1940's L. Leroy & Cie Stepped Tank 18K YG

$0.00
Sold

A magnificent and rare 1940’s L. Leroy & Cie stepped tank with a divinely hand crafted case in 18K yellow gold, guillochéd dial, stylized painted Arabic numerals and a blue steeled syringe handset powered by a LeCoultre caliber, with sharp lines and beautiful sharp aigle hallmark.

L. Leroy & Cie was once at the pinnacle of French watchmaking and has since become a collectors white whale, with the most deeply entrenched watch enthusiasts searching for the makers most unique and treasured examples.

The watch here is unlike most Leroy’s I’ve been introduced to. Namely because of its curved stepped rectangular case design and for lack of a better word, trippy numerals. Art Deco at its core, this 40mm example subtly contours the wrist with a finesse most watches wish they could achieve.

The LeCoultre caliber was recently serviced and running well. Comes with its original French made and aigle hallmarked 18K gold buckle, not installed as it’s fixed. A strap will have to be made bespoke with it installed.
