Sold

A gorgeous and rare 1980s Breguet Empire for the French market, in a warm and heavy 31.5mm 18k yellow gold coin edge case, 18K French made buckle, hand worked guilloché dial with intricate detailing indicative of the high standards of the brand, powered by a desirable and high quality Peseaux caliber 320.

This is not your standard Breguet and fit for the astute.

The Empire has become one of the brand’s most desirable vintage offerings. Exclusively for the French market, examples produced in the 50’s and 60’s can fetch over 100K USD when powered by the Peseaux caliber 260. Examples powered by the smaller yet still high quality Peseaux 320 can still be worth between 25-30K USD. This is due to many factors however quality of craftsmanship and quantity of production run have everything to do with it. The French market has some of the most exquisitely produced gold cases of the era, known for dense and heavy builds compared to their Swiss counterparts and Breguet is no exception.

This 1980’s example is materially the same as its older siblings but comes at a time where Chaumet, the famed French jewelry house, owned the brand and prior to the famed era of where Daniel Roth helmed the house.

This is a true piece of heritage and history from Breguet and would make a fine addition to the serious collector or someone looking for the finest time only Breguet without paying home level prices.
