A handsome 1980s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Triple Calendar Moonphase ref. 25594ST MK 1 also known as the “Owl”, for obvious reasons, in a 36mm steel case with the Royal Oak’s signature Petite Tapisserie dial, integrated bracelet and powered by the automatic winding caliber 2825.
This example is among the first of these complicated “mid-size” Royal Ever made sporting the brands old font script and folded blade clasp. I find this particular size of the famous Genta design perfect for most wrist sizes.
The 25594ST we have here has a strong bezel with recessed screws and bears its wear beautifully. While its bracelet has some play, it feels as though a tough pair of jeans has seen the perfect amount of time to be the most comfortable pair in your closet. I love the character imbued into this example all while maintaining the hallmarks of what makes a Royal Oak what it is.
